The National Bahá'í Youth Committee (NYC) is appointed by the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of Australia, which is the elected governing body for the Australian Bahá'í Community.
The National Bahá'í Youth Committee's primary purpose is to build a Bahá'í identity for youth and junior youth. by guiding and motivating the youth in the path of service and encouraging them to participate fully in the achievement of the goals of the Australian Bahá'í community.
The culture that Bahá'í youth work to build is one that is "outwardly oriented", a culture of change, dynamism, inclusiveness and growth.
The NYC reports to, and receives guidance from, the National Spiritual Assembly and collaborates with other National and Regional Bahá'í agencies.
At present, the NYC is focussing its energies on the following lines of action:
Production of THEHEYDAY.COM.
An annual Australian Bahá'í Youth Conference.
Strategies for development of Bahá'í Societies on Campuses around Australia , in particular via the BLUEPRINT project, BLUEPRINT state forums and the Australian Bahá'í Societies Congress.
Development of a Social & Deepening program.
Assisting Regional Bahá'í Councils with the development of youth structures, activities and mentoring.
Raising awareness of youth service programs and goals of the Australian Bahá'í Community.
Promoting the arts in the Bahá'í youth community.
A message from the NYC about this site:
Dearest friends,
A community has greater opportunity to blossom when it shares a forum for the expression of its ideas, news, beliefs, and all the aspects that help define its culture. The media provides unlimited potential for cultural development. We benefit so much from hearing each other's stories, sharing experiences and thoughts and creatively finding expression for them.
Bahá'í youth face the challenge of developing a culture of service, encouragement, change and growth - through deepening our spiritual bonds, strengthening our unity, increasing our understanding of the far-reaching principles and precepts of our Faith and their application to humanity's needs, and striving to allow those Teachings to be reflected in our personal lives and in our relationships with others. In this enterprise we aim not to create barriers between 'us' and the wider community. We take every opportunity to 'blur the lines' that separate communities from each other, and seek to offer a new model for personal and community development.
By supporting this project, and encouraging others to, you will help create a hub for the expression of our developing culture. This will encourage and inspire others to examine, contribute, and join.
The NYC lovingly offers HD (THEHEYDAY.COM) to all the youth of the nation. We pray that through their contribution and support, its potential may be realised, and hope that it inspires them further in their service to humanity.
We hope the youth will make THEHEYDAY.COM their homepage, use it and most of all, contribute to it.
Always remember, the NYC is here to serve you. It always brings us great joy and inspiration to hear from the youth, receive their news, comments, suggestions and encouragement. Contact: nyc@bahai.org.au . And stay posted to the NYC Desk on the homepage to read our letters!
