"All Art is a gift of the Holy Spirit. When this light shines through the mind of a musician, it manifests itself in beautiful harmonies.  Again, shining through the mind of a poet, it is seen in fine poetry and poetic prose. When the Light of the Sun of Truth inspires in the mind of a painter, he produces marvelous pictures. These gifts are fulfilling their highest purpose, when showing forth the praise of God."

- Abdu'l-Bahá, The Chosen Highway p. 186

Art is…

Art is… emotion

Art is… expression

Art is… communication

Art is… doing the unexpected

Art is… harmony of sight and sound

Art is… the spiritual food of hearts and souls

Art is… unveiling the significance in the seemingly trivial

For Bahá'ís, art is a ladder for the soul. The power of art can transform sadness and despondency into insight and exultation. It can transform, inspire, empower.

True art speaks to the heart and has profound effects upon the hearer, listener or viewer. It's something that cannot really be described with words but speaks to the spirit.

Sadly, today the power and significance of arts is frequently belittled by trivialities and obscenities. Bahá'u'lláh teaches that art is akin to WORSHIP and in its highest form it reflects the Beauty of God. Consider history, many of history's greatest works have drawn their inspiration from the animating energies of one of the great religions. Such is the creative power of the Word of God. You often hear artists say how their work just happens and they don't feel like it's them doing it. It's spiritual connection.

Every individual possesses the capacity to express something unique.

"All art is a gift of the Holy Spirit."
